The S.S. Minnow's Transmitter is a Hallicrafters S-40 series transmitter for sending and receiving commercial and civilian radio band frequencies. Most likely the property of the Skipper, it has had a very hard existence, having been tossed into the ocean, swallowed by a very large fish and then crushed under a load of firewood. The Professor eventually got it working again with parts from the radio to make contact with Alice McNeil, only to lose contact with her.
