Merlin the Mind Reader was an obscure stage magician Ginger worked with at the start of her acting career. His real name is unrevealed, but he is likely the magician alludes to having shown her how to do magic tricks when a magic trunk washed up on the island.

- Merlin takes his name from Merlin, the Sixth Century mage and wizard who was the mentor to King Arthur. The Professor uses the name to refer to Gilligan in Three to Get Ready.
