Lord Beasley Waterford

Lord Beasley Waterford is a British authority of butterflies and author of the book, "The Butterfly And I" and its follow-up, "Things With Wings." He comes to the island in search of a tropical specimen called the Pussycat Swallowtail. Sent to the island by the local natives, he encounters Gilligan and the others, promising to take them off the island. However, to expedite their rescue, Ginger tries flirting with him, and Mr. Howell tries to bribe him. The Professor tries to bond with him by pretending to be a fellow scholar, but Beasley busts his "imposturous" charade. The Skipper even tries faking a moth off as the Pussycat Swallowtail, but its color washes off in the rain. After these stunts, Beasley turns on them for trying to interfere with his search and turning them into assistants. He searches the caves, jungle, lagoon and mountains for the Pussycat Swallowtail, getting briefly stuck in quicksand and stumbling off a cliff at different times. The Castaways soon invite Beasley to tea, which has been laced with the strong fermented berries of the island. As everyone drops off intoxicated, the unaffected Beasley calmly and effortlessly catches the Pussycat Swallowtail, but he is unable to wake the rouse the Castaways to rescue them, leaving the island without them. Two days later, he is heard on BBC Radio that he is heading off to Antarctica in search of another butterfly, a revelation which annoys the Castaways as it is likely he will have forgotten about his time on the island afterward.
