Hans Conried

Best known as the voice of Captain Hook in Disney's "Peter Pan," Hans Conried was an American character actor, comedian and voice-over artist. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was raised in New York City where he studied acting at Columbia University and became a stage actor. He was a member of the Mercury Theatre Company with Orson Welles, later starring on the radio show "My Friend Irma." He was in the original 1953 "Can-Can" on Broadway for more than a year, but his talents as a comedian led to him acquiring numerous roles on television, starring on several TV shows in the Sixties, including "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "Hogan's Heroes," "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Gilligan's Island" where he played Wrongway Feldman in two episodes. In demand as an actor, panelist and narrator, he was active until the last days of his life. He passed away from cardiovascular disease on January 5, 1982, just three weeks short of his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife, Margaret Grant. The couple had four children. His remains were donated to medical science.
