Operation: Orchid was a secret joint CIA-Military project under the purview of Agent Hartley of the CIA and scientist Professor Parsons to create a weapons-grade plastic explosive of volatile levels. Developed from phenolformaldehyde resin, the plastic was developed that it was only volatile in solid form and completely stable in malleable form. It was introduced to Agent Michaels, a new agent brought into the project who learned that 75 pounds of the material had been created, although 25 pounds had been lost in the South Pacific. The lost 25-pound crate eventually washed up in the lagoon where it was found by Gilligan and his monkey.
